How Could You Know?

As you lay sleeping far away as still as you could be... How could you know the joy today this photo brings to me?A few short weeks and you'll be mine, and "I" will soon be "We". How could you know the love I feel? It's something you can't see.So have sweet dreams, my precious babe. Sleep well and tenderly. Some say that you're the lucky one. How could you know it's me? --- Kris Laughlin

Happy Memorial Day!

We left Thursday for a well needed break! We spent the weekend in Mena Arkansas with some of our close friends. We camped at an ATV park in the Quachita Mountains. We all took our ATV's and rode the trails through the mountains. This was our second trip to the park and I did much better this trip. I'm not a big fan of riding on the side of a mountain. I didn't cry one time on this trip! I did shut my eyes a few times though. I was very proud of myself. This trip did take my mind off of our "wait" for a short time, and we needed that. Our adoption has been an up and down rollercoaster for a while, and now that things are moving again the wait should go by a lot quicker.

We're moving along

Jolea's Caregiver, who she knows as her mother

Jolea's "house" at Kien Giang Orphanage

We received some news yesterday from our program director that things are moving. They have found the "missing link" and the paperwork is being completed. It has to be sent off to be certified and authenticated, and then it will go to Vietnam. Travel is just around the corner! In just a couple of more months we should be holding our girl! You just wouldn't believe the things God has done to make all this possible. Please keep praying that everything works out and also for God to be preparing Jolea's heart for this change that is going to take place her life. This will probably be very difficult for her. She is leaving the only home she has ever known.

Happy Mothers Day!

Roasting hotdogs with Colt

Breanna and Luke loved to be rocked!

Love in the Home
If I live in a house of spotless beauty with everything in its place, but have not love, I am a housekeeper--not a homemaker.
If I have time for waxing, polishing, and decorative achievements, but have not love, my children learn cleanliness--not godliness.
Love leaves the dust in search of a child's laugh. Love smiles at the tiny fingerprints on a newly cleaned window.
Love wipes away the tears before it wipes up the spilled milk. Love picks up the child before it picks up the toys.
Love is present through the trials. Love reprimands, reproves, and is responsive. Love crawls with the baby, walks with the toddler, runs with the child, then stands aside to let the youth walk into adulthood.
Love is the key that opens salvation's message to a child's heart.
Before I became a mother I took glory in my house of perfection. Now I glory in God's perfection of my child. As a mother, there is much I must teach my child, but the greatest of all is love.

Fisher Gives Jazz Boost in Overtime Win

I don't how many of you watch NBA basketball, but Joey and I are addicted, and I had to add this picture of Derek Fisher in here for all to see. Derek Fisher plays for the Utah Jazz and he had missed their first playoff game because he said one of his 4 children were ill. Come to find out his 10 month old daughter, Tatum, has retinoblastoma, a form of eye cancer that required a three-hour combination of surgery and chemotherapy at a New York Hospital. Fisher missed most of the first three quarters, then ran straight from the tunnel onto the court late in the third period to a standing ovation and a few high-fives and hugs from teammates, as well as Golden State's Baron Davis. It was so awesome, and I was even a little emotional myself. The teams ended up going into overtime and Fisher scored a winning 3 point shot to secure the win for Jazz.

New Pictures

We received new pictures of Jolea yesterday. She looks pretty sad in most of them. I think she gets pretty scared when they are there to take her pictures. Other families that have visited have told me that she is very shy.
Unfortunately, we haven't heard any good news on traveling. We did hear from our program director this morning, and we are making progress. I am sure we will hear some good news very soon. We know our time is coming! Keep praying for Jolea, and for Joey and I as well. This wait is so hard. At times I feel physically and emotionally exhausted. We have been really encouraged by all of your prayers. I have received emails everyday telling me that people are praying, and cards as well. Thank you!

Waiting for Jolea

I'm starting this blog to share with all you the journey of a our adoption, and for me to vent! For the past 5 months we have been waiting for our travel arrangements. We are hoping for news any day! We started our adoption in May, 2006. After a lot of paperchasing, notarizing, certifying, and authenticating, we accepted the referral of our daughter Nguyen Thi Ngoc Mai in September, 2006. Our dossier was sent to Vietnam in November, and we have been waiting since. Waiting on God is so hard sometimes, but we know our time is coming soon. I hope you all enjoy the journey.
