Merry Christmas!

The kids are counting down the days! We are so excited that Christmas is just 2 days away. Tomorrow we will be going to visit Joey's grandparents for lunch and then my Grandma's for dinner. We'll be busy, busy, busy, for next 3 days. Here are a few pictures of the kids from their Christmas party, our church program, and some other random photos.

This Season

Sunday marked four years since Colt passed away. It's a day that holds vivid memories and stirs up all kinds of emotions as well. I can't say that I've walked out the last 4 years gracefully, but I can say that God was and is by my side. Time has gone by so fast, and it is so hard to believe he's been in heaven longer than he spent with us here. I can still remember that night like it was yesterday. I often try to understand but in all honestly I can't.

This time of year is such a beautiful but a hard season. I am learning to be grateful for this time. I am definitely not who I was 4 years ago. None of us are. I am learning that God has a plan and a purpose for our life that included Colt's illness and also his death. Not that I blame God, I know who is responsible for his cancer, but I also know Who was in control and Who had the final say, and I'm learning to be at peace with that. Saturday we went out to the cemetary and took a grave blanket again to lay over his grave. I ordered one of these for the first time last year and they are so beautiful. I hope you all get a chance to go out and see it. Here are a few pictures of it that I took on Saturday.

Just a little late

This is why it has taken me so long to get Thanksgiving pictures up! Anyhow, we had a great Thanksgiving. Joey fried a turkey, my sister cooked the best dressing using my grandmothers recipe, I actually cooked a few things too! It was so yummy. Not only was the food great, but we had so much to be thankful for this year.

This is Joey and Luke frying the turkey. Joey is wearing his apron that Colt bought for him. Children's Medical Center had set up a little store for the kids to go down to and shop for their families for free.

Jolea was not so sure about eating this turkey. She was so sad for it. She kept awwing. Bless her heart.
This is the turkey that Luke and Jolea's class made at school. Lukes feather is the one on the bottom left with the real turkey feathers. Jolea's is the darker colored one on the upper right.

50s Day

Jolea and Luke's Prek class celebrated the 5oth day of school by having a 50s party yesterday. Here is a picture of Jolea in her cute little poodle skirt that her memaw made.

The other picture is of Jolea and Luke inside Mr. Kings old truck. Too cute!

Deer Lease

This weekend we took a trip to Coleman with Joey to his deer lease. We had a great time! The kids loved it. Luke and Brea often go with him but this was the first trip for Jolea and I. I actually went out to the stand with him one afternoon to hunt. We saw around 36 deer that day. I wouldn't let him shoot any while I was with him though. It was fun just sitting there watching them eat and play. We took our hotel on wheels because I refused to sleep in the "deer camper." I'm just not the kind of girl who can sleep in a tiny camper with 10 0ther people or 2 other people for that matter. I'm very picky about where I sleep. My parents came, along with my cousins and sisters family. We cooked some great food, roasted marshmellows and just had a great relaxing weekend. We will definitely be going back with him again soon. Enjoy the pics!

I think Jolea's favorite part of the trip was the marshmellows. I couldn't tell you how many she ate!

Here is Luke in the deer stand. He is such the little hunter. He just has a very hard time being still.

This is what kind of things happen when your 4 year old is very quiet for a long period of time. Jolea is my girly girl. She is so into makeup, dressup clothes, jewelry and pretty much anything girly. She can spend an hour in her room changing from outfit to outfit in her dressups.

This week was red ribbon week at school and one day was western day. Brea and Luke were all dolled up their boots and jeans and cowboy hats. Luke was so excited to wear these chaps. I didn't have anything western for Jolea to wear so she was just her usual cute self, and she didn't mind as long as she had a bow in her hair!

A little about Jolea

I was always told that one day it would click and you would see how attached your adopted child has become to you. I have always thought that Jolea did very well attaching to us and that we didn't have any bonding problems, but I can honestly say I think we have come full swing. She is totally attached to her Mommy. She has gotten to where she doesn't want to leave my side. She will not spend the night with anyone and actually sleep well. She will often wake up and cry for her Mommy. I have to say it absolutely melts my heart. I honestly didn't know that it would feel this good. I can tell she is finally feeling so safe and secure. For so long, when I would carry her to bed asleep she would cling so tight to my neck as if she were scared, and she is asleep during this. Now, she is just so relaxed, she is like a rag doll when I carry to bed. I know this probably sounds cheesy to some, but I know you adopted Moms know what a joy something so simple like this can be.
Also, lately she has been asking so many questions about JoJo. I guess because it was birthday and all. She will ask me everyday, is JoJo in heaven?(as she points up) and then the new word WHY? I tell her the same story over and over of why he is heaven. She is so concerned about him, and doesn't understand why his body was broken. If I had a picture of the sincerity on her face it would be priceless. She is so proud to be his sister, and of course it makes me so proud to hear her talk about the brother she never physically knew like she has known him forever. Oh my and you should see her face when stars are out. She shouts heaven! heaven! JoJo! JoJo! She thinks she is looking into heaven, boy is she in for a surprise when she really sees heaven.

Seven in Heaven!

Happy Birthday little Jo! I love you!
Wow, he turned seven today. I try to picture what he would look like as a seven year old and it is so hard to do. We went to the cemetary today and the kids released their balloons like they always do. It was so strange because the last 3 times we've done this the balloons have always gone in a northern direction. This time they went south. The total opposite direction of the way they usually go. It was also rainy again but subsided long enough for the kids to release their balloons. I didn't get a chance to to take pictures I actually didn't think about getting out my camera until it was too late. The kids did pick their own balloons. Luke picked superman, Jolea picked Mickey Mouse, and Brea picked Thomas the Train. Enjoy the pictures! I will share more later but it is late and I'm really tired.

He Can Dig It!

Here is my little builder on his Daddy's tractor. Joey showed him how to dig and he had the best time. He tried so hard to get Jolea to play in the dirt he was dumping so he could dump dirt on her. What a stinker. Enjoy!
