New Years Resolutions

So did any of you make any New Years resolutions?  If so, I would love to hear about them!  There are a lot of things I would like to do different during this upcoming year.  One thing I've already began to do is eating better, and cooking healthier foods regardless of the so called busy schedule that I always use as an excuse.  I've also became a little more cautious of the foods that I let my kids eat or drink.  I'm not saying that I don't let them have an occasional happy meal or fast food meal, but before they just ate way too much of the junk, and considering I had a child with cancer I'm becoming more aware of the harmful things that go into the foods we've been eating.  I've switched over to alot of organic and natural foods as well.  We've been eating alot of organic vegetables, fruits, juices, chicken, milk, and pretty much everything I can find.  I love shopping at cosco because they have a lot of organic and natural food choices there!  I also only buy whole grains, and 100% wheat breads and pastas, and have been trying to eat foods that have high fiber in them.  Joey and I are also taking a fiber supplement!  Joey has been having some scary, high blood pressures lately so I'm hoping the change in diet will fix that as well!  Luke is pretty much the only one who isn't thrilled about the food choices lately.  He is such a junk food junkie.  He just loves the typical 5 year old foods....macaroni, chicken nuggets, spaghetti and meatballs, and that kind of thing!  So this is going to be an adjustment, but a healthy adjustment!

Sunday night I actually made brussel sprouts!  I bought the sprouts at costco!  I love their vegetables there!  I have actually never eaten sprouts before and they turned out soooo good!  I got the idea from a recipe blog I read.  The recipe actually came from Paula Dean.  I know, she cooks alot of comfort foods but she actually has some really good ideas on her website.  I also have been getting alot of info from the pioneer woman.  She too has a lot of good recipe ideas.  Here are a few pictures from Sundays home cooked meal!

These are the sprouts after I washed, cut the ends, and peeled off the bad leafs.  Also, note the organic, virgin olive oil! :)

This is them afterwards!  I cooked them on 400 degrees for about 30 min.

HaHa! This is what Luke changed the fridge face to after I told him he had to try at least one sprout!

Here is the final meal (plus a few goodies my Mom brought over)

That is one of my biggest New years resoultions as well is to eat healthier. I myself eat healthy but my boys do not. So I am working on that. Brandon is easy but seth just wont budge on some things. I do buy all the organic stuff. Love it... But you gave me a good idea about the brussel sprouts. I love them but I buy the ones in the box with all that butter. I am going to try yours.
