Baby Luke

I don't know what's going on with Luke lately but he has started sucking his thumb again!  Joey is blaming it on me being pregnant, which I guess could be the case.  I have to say though that I think it is absolutely adorable!!

15 weeks

The past couple of days have been tough ones for me.  I have just been so sick.  I honestly can't believe how bad this pregnancy is kicking my tail!  Sunday morning I felt great.  We got up and went to the early service at church.  We haven't been to church in several weeks because of the sick mornings and sleepless nights.  About lunch time I started getting sick and it lasted until my husband finally sent me to bed around 9.  I just want to say thank God for my husband and great friends that I vent on.  I don't know how they've seemed to put up with me lately. :)  Oh, and my poor kids....last night I think they were really concerned about me because after I went to bed I never heard a peep out of them.  They knew how sick I was.  I don't really know what set it off yesterday.  I didn't eat anything I thought was bad.  We grilled chicken, with vegetables and macaroni for dinner, and all I had were the vegetables.  I haven't really been able to eat much meat lately.  Even the thought of it makes me nauseous.  If I hadn't already had so many sonos I would swear I was having twins or something!!

With all this sickness I'm am still thanking God everyday for this little miracle.  So many woman long to have children and can't.  Sometimes I feel so horrible for complaining because there are so many who would love to be in my shoes...sickness and all.  I am just so thankful!  I went to bed so sick and miserable last night I was in tears but still thanking God for this precious gift.

Here is a picture Brea took Saturday night with my iphone.  I was so hesitant about posting it but I want to make sure to document everything!  So don't laugh!!  You can see the bump!

Cloth diapers and baby wearing

I'm really considering cloth diapering this go around.   I've been over the pros and cons numerous times and the pros really outway the cons. I believe the decision not only will have a great impact on the babies comfort and health, but also on the environment and our finances.  Did you know that the chemical used to make the super-absorbency of disposable diapers is Sodium polyacrylate, which has been linked to TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome) and can cause allergic reactions?  A baby's skin is so sensitive it soaks those chemicals right up!  Overall, making the decision to use disposable diapers or cloth diapers is a personal one. There is no one right answer for everyone. You simply have to chose what is right for your family.  I've purchased a few different brands of cloth diapers already, but will definitely have to buy several more before January.  I'm also wondering how to handle the first few days when the baby poops the meconium.  That will surely ruin some diapers, so if any of you have an idea about that let me know!  I would assume you would just use some regular prefolds or something, but I'm no expert!

Ok, and I know you've all heard of babywearing!  I'm pretty into this too!  After adopting and all the information we learned about babywearing during that time, I plan to wear this baby too!  There are so many awesome reasons for wearing your baby, but the main reason is for bonding and the emotional security of the baby.  Babies who are continuously held actually initiate separation faster. They also cry less, smile more, are less prone to vomiting and spitting up.  I could go on and on but those are just some of the perks of wearing your baby!  I've bought the ergo baby carrier so far, and plan to buy the moby wrap.  Those are the ones that have been recommended so far.  If any of you have any other suggestions feel free to share!!  Below is the carrier that I've bought.

I'm curious to hear all your thoughts on these!!

4th of July

I've been such a bad blogger lately!  Not to mention my camera hasn't been getting much use either.  I'll just say it, I've been slacking on quite a bit lately!  :) This pregnancy is really kicking my tail, no exageration.  I had gotten to where I was feeling pretty good in the mornings, but usually very nauseous, and sick in the evenings.  But, the last few days, the morning sickness has shown it's ugly face again.  Isn't the second trimester supposed to be the good one?  My husband has been the greatest though, and is so helpful around the house.  Not only that, but he lets me rest, helps cook dinner, and will even let me have the bed to myself if I'm super tired so I can get a good nights sleep.  He is simply just the greatest!  I love him!

Because of my lack in blogging, I haven't mentioned that Jolea had surgery last week.  On Wednesday, she had another surgery to repair the fistula in her palate, and also some nasal surgery.  Her nose looks amazing!  She does have a stint in her nostril that has to stay for three weeks, but it still looks great!  We are hoping the repair on the fistula is a success this time around.  This is the second attempt to repair it.  I'll get some pictures of her soon and post them.  The bad part is that she is on a liquid diet for 10 days.  She is not happy about it either, but she's a champ!  She's loving all the ice cream, jello, and pudding though!

Now we did have a really great 4th of July weekend.  Joey took off work through Monday.  We went to his Granny's lakehouse on Saturday to visit her, and that evening we went to my Aunts house for dinner and fireworks.  They always have a huge spread and an awesome firework show.  Sunday we just layed around the house and then we had some friends over for dinner and fireworks.  Monday, we spent the day at the lake again with Joey's family.  The kids tubed and knee boarded, and we all had such a great time.  It was really a great weekend!  Here are a few pictures I snapped.  Not real good, but better than nothing!
