1 year later!

I can't believe it's been 1 year since Luke's accident and brain surgeries!  Luke had his check up with his neurosurgeon last week and we were so happy to hear that everything still looked great!  The cyst on his brain is still the same size as it was after surgery, but his Dr. said that was ok.

It isn't causing him any pain, headaches, and there is no bleeding!  He did tell us that Luke will not be able to play any sports such as football, basketball, or soccer.  Thankfully God blessed us with a son who has no interest in sports but loves to hunt!  He was released to shoot his rifle and he was so happy to hear that!

I am so thankful we were blessed with such an amazing neurosurgeon.  Luke absolutely loves Dr. Swift and so do we!

Colt turns 10

Saturday we celebrated Colt's 10th birthday.  It's so hard to picture him as a 10 year old.  He will always be 3 to me I guess.  It makes me wonder, will he be 3 when we meet up in heaven?  I can't wait until that day!

We had an amazing day.  Joey and I got the kids up early and headed out.  We went and picked out balloons for his balloon release.  We do it every year.  We buy all his favorite lightyear, mickey mouse, thomas the train, and more, and release them into the sky.  This year Breanna made tags and tied to each string.  Someone actually called us Sunday morning and had already found a balloon in Frankston, TX.  That was very exciting.  I can't wait to see how many we get back!  Most of our family joined us at the cemetery with balloons, and we also had some special friends join us as well.

After we picked up balloons we took the kids to a pumpkin patch.  Luci loved the pumpkins!  We had the greatest time!

After the balloon release our family and several more friends joined us at the house for dinner and birthday cake.   We watched the Rangers game and got pretty loud in the house!   The Rangers won and are on their way to the World Series!

We could not have asked for a better day.  We are so thankful to have such amazing family and friends who are willing to drop what they are doing to celebrate the life of our sweet boy.  Makes me smile to know how loved he was and still is!

Where's the time?

Yikes! I'm so behind on blogging!  We have just been so extremely busy lately.

Bre is playing Volleyball, select softball, and also cheerleading.  I just realized that I had typed up Luci's 8 month post but never posted it!

I promise I'll get those up this weekend.  In the meantime is a picture of my sweet Luci in her Disney duds.  Have I mentioned how extremely excited I am about our upcoming trip to Disney World this December!  And my little ones still have no idea we are going!!

8 Months

Happy 8 months Luci! Here's what you're up to these days!
  • You are wearing 6 to 9 months clothes and some 12 months.
  • You are in a size 3 diaper
  • For such a tiny girl you are BIG eater!  You eat 3 meals a day now.  You get cereal in the morning, a vegetables for lunch and for dinner you usually get vegetable as well or another bowl of cereal.
  • You are starting to eat mostly table foods now, other than your cereal.  You also love eating foods that are cut up small. Like chuncks of carrots, apples, string cheese, spaghetti, etc...  You are such a great eater and I hope it stays that way!
  • You are crawling everywhere, and are also standing on your own.  We expect you to take off walking any day now.
  • You are not really a social baby.  You will grin and smile at people, but will let very few hold you.
  • You are staying with your Memaw everyday while Mom and Daddy work.  Most mornings your little eye's light up with excitement when we get there.  I've gotten a cry or refusal to go to Memaw a few times though. :)
  • You are such a scavenger.  You crawl all over and will put anything and everything in your mouth that you find.  There are no telling how many strands of carpet you have swallowed!
Luci you are the sweetest, most amazing little baby.  I can't believe 8 months of your life has already flown by.  In 4 short months you'll be turning 1!

Here is my attempt at your 8 month photos!

A Softball Players Prayer

The Softball Player's Prayer

God Grant me wisdom,
to tell a stike from a ball,
to know where to throw,
and never to fall. Keep me always in the baseline,
running straight and true,
and I'll look for your sign
and stretch one into two. God give me vision to
see every pitch,
so if a player needs help,
I will see which. Let me always hustle,
so I'll be at my best,
and take pride in myself
in sports and the rest. God be my strength
when I thorw the ball
when I'm far from home plate,
or against a wall. So I never miss a base,
please guide my feet,
bring me home safely
So my job is complete. When I help a younger player,
help me always give praise,
so they will see you in me,
in all of my ways. God please guide our coach,
to be fair and smart,
to teach us to be good,
let it come from his heart. Let me take a loss,
just as well as a win.
to do any less is surely a sin. As long as I can play,
let me make my parents proud,
as proud as I am,
when they yell my name out loud. However, when my games end,
let me have fun
and if heaven has All-Stars,
I want to be one. When my games here are over
and my seasons are done,
let me play on your team,
just like your son.

7 months

My little Luci are 7 months old already!  I can't believe that soon I will be planning your first birthday!  It makes me a little sad, but excited too.  Taking your photos this month was not an easy task.  In fact, it took all of us just to get a few photos.  You were not going to be still long enough to let Mommy take your picture!

I have to say that you are spoiled rotten! And I'm to blame.  I've pretty much held you most of your life. :)  Now that you are mobile you will push to get down and play, but not for long.  I always rock you to sleep and often times I just hold you while you sleep.  I love those moments.  Savoring every sweet moment of your life is so important to me.

Soon I'll be returning to work, and the thought of it literally makes me sick.  I'll miss so much during the day, so expect lots of snuggles when I get home.

Well sweet girl, here is what you are up to these days!
  • You are crawling all over the place!  You don't like your knees to touch the hard floor so often times you are on your feet and hands.
  • You are also pulling up on everything, which means everything has to be moved to a higher location or you will have it in your possession.
  • You weighed 17.6 pounds at your last Dr. visit, and you were 27 inches.
  • Your favorite foods are still the baby foods that me and your Daddy make.  Avocados, potatoes, beans...those are your favorites.  You don't care for fruit, just like your Momma.
  • Your personality is the greatest.  Everyone loves you and you have a way of making everyone smile and happy.
  • You love your brother and sisters, and your face lights up when you see them.  They have a way with you like no other, and the giggles that come out of when you play are priceless.
  • You are still waking up around 3,4, or 5 in the morning to be fed.  You don't stay up or eat much and you are back to sleep.
  • You have two bottom teeth now also.
  • I've also started feeding you some finger foods.  You are so smart and will often feed yourself right off your highchair tray.
  • Your doctor expects you to be walking in a couple of months, and says that you are about 3 months ahead developmentally.
Its hard to believe 7 months have already gone by!  We love you so much sweet girl, and the joy you bring to this family is just amazing!

Back to school with a purpose

Sending my kids back to school with a purpose just got so much easier!  DaySpring sent me some amazing products to review for free and I absolutely love them!

Breanna is going into the 8th grade this year.  If you think sending your children to Kindergarten is tough, wait until you send them to 8th grade.  The older they get, the more challenges they seem to face.  The pressure's placed on them from their peer's are so much greater.  Although, I know that I'm not sending her unprepared.  With our Lord Jesus by her side, I have no doubt that she is going to have a great school year!  She is well prepared for whatever this world tries to throw at her!

DaySpring sent us notebooks, folders, and binders all with powerful messages on them.  You can see the pictures  I took of them below.  What I love most about these is that they will be a constant reminder of who she is, and the walk that she is walking, as well as her peers.  DaySpring has many more amazing designs that you can view here.

Also, if you leave a comment, I will randomly pick one person to receive $20.00 towards anything from DaySpring!

Thank you DaySpring for these amazing products!

These products were all given to me by DaySpring free of charge for my review, and reflect only my opinion. :)

Softball, softball, and more softball

Don't you just love weekend getaways?  This weekend Bre played in a softball tournament and since her games were so late and so early in the mornings we decided to get a hotel room and stay the weekend.  It was so nice!
Joey took off work Friday and we all headed out of town.  We took the kids to eat at the Rainforest Cafe for lunch.  If you've never been there, you should at least try it once.  It is definitely a very LOUD, and fun experience.  We also did a little shopping and let the little ones enjoy build a bear workshop.

Unlike most teenagers, Bre has had a very busy summer.  She has been doing a softball training camp 3 days a week, pitching lessons, and she also went on a mission trip.  The softball training camp is a lot of conditioning outside in 100 degree temps, and never once has she complain.  She loves it!  It's been so good for her.  We have seen so much improvement in every area of her game.  She almost hit one out of the park this weekend!  I can definitely see that out of the park homerun in her NEAR future!  She has made some really sweet and unexpected friendships with some really great girls which was so needed, and an answer to our prayers!

Bre is a pretty athletic girl and she puts it all on the field when she plays.  Alot of times she ends up bruised and bleeding, but she works hard and is very passionate about the sport.  These girls on her team, and her coaches love that about her.  They lift her up, encourage her, brag on her, and love being side by side with her on the playing field.  There is no competing to be better than one another, unlike some of the other teams and sports she has played.  These girls play as a team!  They love her attitude.  She's serious when it's time be serioius. and can be very silly when it's time to play.

We just really had a great weekend with some great families.  It was so nice to get out of town, and we definitely needed the time away.  We are also looking forward to being a part of a great softball organization, and can't wait until fall ball starts!

We just had a wonderful time!

Snack time

Today I treated the kids to these mouthwatering, delicious cookies courtesy of the recipe that I found at The Pioneer Woman.  They were a hit in this household!

Even Luke liked them, so that really says alot!  This is such an easy recipe, and only requires 4 ingredients.

Chocolate Nutella Cookies
  • 1 cup Nutella
  • 1 cup all purpose flower
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
Preheat oven to 350. Blend all ingedients together well. Form into 1″ balls. Place on a cookie sheet. Press down firmly with the bottom of a glass. Bake 7-8 minutes or until set. You can then let them cool if you like, but I like to serve mine up a little warm.

There was a woman who was a gossip. After realizing that she had slandered someone, she went to her pastor and asked how she could fix the situation. The pastor said to her, “Get a pillow case and fill it with feathers.”

So the woman went away and got a pillow case and stuffed it with feathers.

She went back to her pastor and showed him the pillow case full of feathers and said, “Now what do I do?”

“Go to a rooftop and shake the feathers out.” The pastor said.

“Yes, and then what?” Said the woman, waiting eagerly.

“After you do that, go and find every feather and put it back in the pillow case.” The pastor said matter-of-factly.

“But pastor,” the woman said with astonishment, “that is impossible. There’s no way I can possibly find all those feathers. The wind will have blown them everywhere!”

The pastor looked at the woman and said,

“That is gossip.”

This girl is amazing...

"And as she sets the gaze of her soul upon Him, who will she see? She will see the one who is writing a story just for her. He is unfolding before her the very person He wants her to be. See she is a unique creation and only He can lead her to be used maximumly for His glory. And the beauty of it is…He promises to finish the work He has begun in her (and our) faith (Philippians 1:6)."
