A month of birthdays

We've had a month of birthdays!  Earlier in the month Breanna turned 13 years old.  Finally a teenager!  Jolea turned 7 years old today!  She is now officially older than Luke for about 2 months, and boy does she rub it in!

Brea decided not to have a birthday party this year, and opted for extra money instead.  She's had her heart set on getting a netbook for a while and she finally had saved enough money.  Jolea had a pinkalicious party at the house on Saturday.  She and all her cousins dressed in their tutus.  It was pretty fun.  I made pink cupcakes, and decorated everything in pink.  After going to chuck e cheese the last few years I'd forgotten how much work it was to throw a party!  I enjoyed doing all the work myself though, and was quite proud of myself!

1 month old!

Luci! You are 1 month old!  I can't believe it's already been a month.  You are growing so much, and finally putting on some weight.  You've had the skiniest little arms and legs, and we are finally seeing some little chuncky thighs and rolls show up!  You're still wearing newborn clothes and diapers, but are beginning to grow our of both.  You are still nursing about every 2 to 3 hours.  Sometimes during the day you'll go 4 hours if your napping.  You are really giving Mommy fits at night.  You like to stay up way too late!  There have been some nights that you're still awake at 2:00 in the morning!  I'm hoping to get this fixed soon!  Our days usually consist of staying home in our PJ's.  It's just too cold and nasty to get out.  We've taken you on a few outings lately.  You've gotten to go Brea's basketball game, and also to Target and Kroger!  Yippy!  Since it's flu season, Mommy doesn't like to get you out around crowds alot.

Luci, you have the sweetest little personality already.  You have started smiling, and I love how when you smile your whole face joins in!  It's the sweetest thing.  You already like to play pat-a-cake, and you'll smile everytime.  I just love to see your little face light up!  You absolutely enjoy bathtime, and as soon as you hit the water you quit crying.  Your big brother begs to take a bath with you, and he usually gets his way.  We had your newborn pictures done last week and you were the best baby.  The photographer even said you were the best baby she'd done that weekend.  You are simply the sweetest!  We love you Luci Goose!  Below are some of our attempts at your 1 month photo.  I hope you change your mind about hair bows!  You were just not having it!

Snow Day!

I am a little behind in posting, but last Sunday it started snowing here in Texas.  So crazy because it was warm and sunny the day before.  The kids were so excited when they saw the huge flakes of snow falling from the sky.  They couldn't wait to get out in it!  It snowed so much that on Monday, school was cancelled and the kids were able to stay home and play in it.  I love it when we get snow like this, and it doesn't happen very often.  We've been blessed with it the last two years though!

This is what Daddy and Luci did all day!

2 weeks old!

My sweet Luci!  Your already two weeks old!  Luci you are changing so quickly so that's why I'm updating again this week.  This week you have started to focus on us with your eyes.  You are already so inquisitive and I just talk to you all the time.  You've started sleeping a little better at night.  I usually feed you around 10:00, you wake up around 2am or 3, then you sleep until early morning.  Although sometimes you tend to want to stay awake for awhile at night.  I often don't mind though.  I could sit and rock you all night.  You will just lie in my arms with your head rested on my chest, wide awake.  I've started reading you the bible.  Right now we are reading about some of the amazing women of the bible.  We've already read Ruth, and we've started Esther.  You just sit so quiet and listen.  I love every minute of it, and I think you do too.  You are still a tiny little thing, but are now finally gaining weight and eating well.  These first two weeks were quite rough as far as breastfeeding goes.  I think I'd forgotten how difficult it was.  You were a very sleepy baby your first two weeks.  The sleepiness and the jaundice put a little damper on your eating and weight gain.  Well, your Mom stuck it out, when I often wanted to give up.  I knew it was best for you Luci goose, and I'm hoping it's smooth sailing from here!  Your still eating about every two to three hours during the day, and at night you stretch it to about 4.  Your such a good baby.  Your brother and sisters are still head over heals in love with you.  The fighting over you has quieted down, but they would still hold you all day if I let them.  Your brother went back to school last week, and it's been pretty difficult for him to leave you everyday.  It's much like the relationship between Colt and Luke when Luke was born.  Colt didn't want Luke out of his sight, and that's how Luke is with you.  You are one loved little girl!

Is this not the sweetest smile?!  I wonder what she's dreaming about!
