6 months already! are 6 months old!  I can't believe you are half a year!  Before long we'll be celebrating your first birthday!  Here is what you are up to these days!
  • You weigh around 17-18 lbs.  We go for your checkup next week so we'll know for sure then.  Our tiny girl is not so tiny anymore!
  • You are wearing 6 - 9 months clothes, and some 12 months.
  • You are sitting up on your own
  • You get up on all fours now, and army crawl wherever you want to go.
  • Your favorite thing to do is play in the floor with your toys.  Although, you are all over the place so we are constantly bringing you back to the rug.
  • You are eating all kinds of baby food these days.  Your favorites are carrots, and sweet potatos.  You love when I make you avocados and mashed potatoes.  You prefer foods that we make for you instead of the jar foods.
  • You love to hear yourself talk and the it is starting to sound more like words.  We hear a lot of mama, baba, dada.  We love it!
  • You are developing such a sweet personality too!  We can tell you are going to be quite the little stinker, and we love every minute of it! You bring joy to us every single day of our life!
  • You are still not sleeping through the night.  You usually wake up once to be fed.
  • Your Grandparents are head over heals for you also.  Your Grandad usually can't go a single day without stopping by for a visit.  He loves to see that pretty smile.
  • You make the silliest faces, and you are constantly cracking us up.  We love it when you wrinkle up that cute little button nose.
So that's what you're up to these days sweet girl!  We love you so much!

This girl is amazing...

"And as she sets the gaze of her soul upon Him, who will she see? She will see the one who is writing a story just for her. He is unfolding before her the very person He wants her to be. See she is a unique creation and only He can lead her to be used maximumly for His glory. And the beauty of it is…He promises to finish the work He has begun in her (and our) faith (Philippians 1:6)."

Summer, summer, summertime!

Friday we ended the school year, and summer vacation has began!  I've never been more ready to end a school year than this one.  We started off the school year with Luke's head injury, followed by Luci's birth.  After Luci was born, I didn't want to go back and leave her, but I also didn't want my other two little one's there without me.  So let me tell you I am so excited that we are all home together for the next few months.  I think this is going to be one of the best summer's ever!

Here are some ways I plan to make this a great SUMMER!

*  Spending lots of time with my husband
We spend so much of the summer planning fun things for our kids that we don't make time for ourselves.  Joey has a lot of work this summer that requires him to be out of town, so when he's home not only will  he  be having some quality time with our children, but we'll be taking some time for us as well. ;)

*  Flying by the seat of our pants
I feel if your summer is too planned then that takes all the fun out of it.  Our plan this summer is to not plan, but to be spontaneous.  Just like tonight the kids are camping out in the backyard. Or waking up and deciding...hey lets take off to the lake today, or let's have a water balloon fight, or water gun fight.

*  Serving others
We recently got involved in Compassion, and we've sponsored our first child.  Jolea and Luke are both very excited about writing letters, and sending gifts to him.  Breanna is going on her first mission trip this summer to Arizona to minster to the Navajo indians.  Our children love to be givers, they just need us to lead them!

*  Taking time for myself, and one on one time with our children.
My Mom couldn't dare go all summer without having Luci for a day, so I can use those day to get a pedicure with my older girls, take care of errands and appointments, and also catch up on my devotions and just have some quiet time.

These are just a few things that help our family have an amazing summer vacation!  Don't forget to also take time to read your bible together as a family, and pray together.  There is nothing better than growing deeper in God's word with your family!  I hope you all have a fantastice summer!

Can't leave without a few pictures!

 Love these BIG brown eyes!

Her favorite food so far..Carrots!  We got a little messy with it. :)

Sponsor a child online through Compassion's Christian child sponsorship ministry. Search for a child by age, gender, country, birthday, special needs and more.

“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Mark 10:14 (NIV)

I have fallen in love with Compassion.  If you aren't familiar with it, it is a Christian child advocacy ministry.  Right now, Compassion helps more than 1 million children in 26 different countries.  After reading their blog, and the blogs of the bloggers who are now in the Philippines on a Compassion mission trip, we recently sponsored our first child.

When I clicked on the "sponsor a child" link and began to browse through all of the children still waiting to be sponsored.  I noticed some of the children, particularly boys, had small little red hearts on their pictures.  This meant that these children had been waiting the longest for a sponsor.

After looking through all the children I found a little boy in the Dominican Republic.  He was 9 years old.  Born the same month, and the same year as Colt.  He also had a little heart on his picture.  I knew then he was the one. :)  His name is Alberto.

To sponsor a child, it is only $38 a month.  With that $38 a month the children Compassion serves receive, the opportunity to hear the gospel and learn about Jesus, regular Christian training,  educational opportunities and help. They also receive health care, hygiene training and supplementary food if necessary; a caring and safe Christian environment to grow in self-confidence and social skills; personal attention, guidance and love.

I encourage you to visit Compassion and look into the eyes of these children.  See if you can leave without falling in love.

Also please visit and follow the compassion bloggers in the Philippines.
