We spent this past weekend and will be spending this coming weekend at a softball tournament.  Bre's team brought home the championship trophy last weekend...too exciting!  Winning is always fun.  They played the whole tournament without losing a single game.  Not only that, but we made some precious memories with our family and friends.  You can't beat that!

I have always LOVED watching Bre play.  She is such a natural at softball and can play anywhere on the field.  Her coach loves that about her.  Her passion is to be in the outfield, but often times she is put in the infield because that's where she is needed.  She could care less as long as she's in the game!

Her coach played her at catcher for the first time in this game, and she did amazing!  She's been at their training facility this week working on catching so I expect to see her behind the mound again this weekend. I was so nervous at first, but was so proud of her.  She didn't miss a single pitch!  When you have a pitch coming at you at 55+ mph that's pretty good!

Here she is with one of her great friends sporting their trophy!  Two proud girls here!  And to her surprise, some of her bestfriends showed up to cheer her on in her championship game.  She couldn't have been more excited to see them!

Joey Colt...

Today I'm linking up with Kelly's Korner with other family's who've lost a child to share Colt's story.  If you're visiting from there please feel free to click on the button at the top to read about Colt's battle with neuroblastoma.  We miss our sweet little blonde haired, blue eyed boy and can't wait until the day we are reunited!

It's that time again!

Ultimate Blog Party 2012

It's time for the ultimate Blog Party again!  I think this is the 3rd year I've participated, and I've made some amazing online friendships with women through this!  Some of the relationships, although they are online, have been a huge encouragement for me and I look forward to our weekly conversations!

I'm going to make this short and sweet so you can get to looking around!  To introduce myself....I am Christi!  I am a Mom of 5 amazing children, one whom resides in heaven.  I started blogging in 2004 after the loss of our son, Colt, to cancer.  Colt was 3 years old at the time and blogging was a way to just get it all out there.  I continued blogging through the adoption of our daughter Jolea from Vietnam.  I love blogging about our family and sharing pictures of all our exciting moments.  It's almost like a written book of our life.  Going back and reading about all those special moments is just bittersweet!  So, welcome to my blog and thanks for stopping by!!

Our Brave Girl

Our sweet girl was exhausted after an early appointment with her surgeon.  We've finally gotten to the point where she is ready for her big surgery, the bone graft.  She's beyond excited and has been waiting on this for a very long time.  This is the surgery where they will take bone from her hip and repair her jaw that is cleft.  After this all holes will be closed!  Thank you Jesus!  There will be no more food coming out of the nose, and no more bad breath from infection.
She then will be able to get her braces and begin straightening up her teeth.  She's excited about that too.  Our sweet girl has been through so much to prepare for this.  She's been such a trooper through it all!  We are so proud of her.
They tell us the bone graft will be painful for her.  Mostly in the hip area.  Jolea has a really high pain tolerance so I'm hoping that works in her favor.  The surgery will be taking place on June 20th.  We decided to wait until summer so she doesn't have to miss a week of school.  She'll also be on a liquid diet for a minimum of 10 days depending on how the healing is taking place.
Please keep our brave girl in your prayers!

Wordless Wednesday

There are just no words to describe this..... :)

Monday, April 2, 2012

What a weekend!  Thursday was the 12th day of our church wide fast.  On that day we had a 12 hour prayer service which began at 12:00 at lunch and ended at midnight.  On my way to the church at lunch I received a phone call that my Dad wasn't feeling good.  He is diabetic and was thinking that his blood sugar had dropped.  He thought his glucometer read 30 when in fact it was actually 300.  He had had a stroke and the vision in his right eye had been affected and he couldn't see the rest of the number.

He was transferred to Dallas to a stroke center that evening where he has been since.  Hopefully he will coming home today.  We left the house that night around midnight and didn't get home until 5am Friday morning.  I can't say how thankful and blessed I am to know that for the entire 12 hours that this was all taking place we had some strong prayer warriors praying on our behalf, my 14 year old daughter included.  She was in prayer at the church until after 11:00 Thursday night praying for her Grandad!

By God's grace, he is doing wonderful.  He has some issues with his vision, but we are believing that will all be taken care of.  He should hopefully be home today!

On an exciting note, we finally poured sidewalks this weekend.  I've only waited 9 years for my husband to get these done!  The kids love them.  Lots of scooter riding, and Luci goes up and down them with her baby stroller.  Jolea also learned to ride her bike without training wheels on Friday.  A good friend of ours daughter taught her while we were at the hospital.  She was so excited and we went and bought her a new bike with her birthday money!

I'm just excited about life these days!  So many wonderful things taking place.  I have to confess I've sat and wallowed in bitterness for far too long.  I missed out on so much, but no more.  Fear and bitterness are a part of my past, and I'm embracing this joyful life that God has for me and my family!
